Instagram Testing Quoted Stories Feature For Resharing

While Instagram lets users share Instagram posts onto social media networks like Facebook or to Messenger, users can’t actually reshare these posts on Instagram itself. Users have had to turn to third-party software to do that, although we have heard that the company could be testing out an official method.

Now according to a report from TechCrunch, it looks like the resharing feature might come in the form of Stories where users can “quote” Instagram posts in their Stories. Just like “regramming”, users have been resharing the Stories of other Instagram users in their own Stories through unofficial methods, such as screenshotting them and uploading them.

However with this feature, there will be a more official way of resharing them and they will be uploaded in a cleaner manner, as you can see in the screenshots above shared with TechCrunch by one of their readers. Not only does this look neater, but it also provides a direct link to the post itself meaning that if users want to check out the original post, they can do so more efficiently.

Instagram has confirmed that the feature is in testing, “We’re always testing ways to make it easier to share any moment with friends on Instagram,” but stopped short of mentioning whether or not it will be implemented publicly in the future. This is actually not the first time we’re hearing about resharing via Stories, but given that the previous report was also about a feature in testing, it’s hard to say if they will be rolled out in earnest.
