With there being so many news platforms at the moment, we’re sure that there are some who view Netflix as a place to getaway from all of it. The video streaming platform plays host to a ton of TV shows, comedies, action movies, horror, documentaries, and so on, but if there is one thing that’s missing, it would be the news.

However in a report from MarketWatch, it seems that Netflix could be interested in creating a news show for its platform. However instead of something more traditional that you might expect from the BBC, Fox, CNN, and so on, Netflix’s approach will be similar to CBS’s “60 Minutes” or ABC’s “20/20” show.

This was revealed by a TV executive who worked with Netflix on a documentary series and where they told MarketWatch under condition of anonymity, “Netflix have spotted a hole in the market for a current affairs TV show encompassing both sides of the political divide and are seeking to fill it.”

While Netflix has yet to confirm anything, it does seem to be in line with what the platform has been doing in recent times. Netflix has signed comedian talk show hosts such as David Letterman, Joel McHale, Hasan Minhaj, Michelle Wolf, and Norm MacDonald for shows that are meant to satirize the news. So for them to create a “60 Minutes” like segment wouldn’t be a stretch.

No word on when this particular show will be launched, but what do you guys think? Is this something you would be interested in watching on Netflix?
