Many Android smartphone manufacturers have embraced the iPhone X-inspired display notch this year and others are expected to follow suit. Early rumors about the OnePlus 6 have suggested that the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone is also going to feature a notch and it appears that the latest OxygenOS beta might have backed up this assumption.

OnePlus released the OxygenOS Open Beta 4 for the OnePlus 5T over the weekend and the folks over at XDA Developers dug into the code to find a reference that they think reveals the presence of a display notch on the OnePlus 6.

It goes without saying that a purported reference in the code of a beta release isn’t enough evidence to be absolutely sure that the upcoming handset is going to feature a notch but it does lend weight to multiple reports suggesting the same.

The claims have also been backed up by Oppo’s recent teaser of its upcoming R15 handset. OnePlus is an associated company of Oppo and the former has borrowed some design elements from the latter’s handsets in the past. The teaser for the R15 has hinted at a notch as well.

There’s plenty of circumstantial evidence available right now suggesting that the OnePlus 6 might have a notch. The company itself has yet to confirm anything about the new device. It hasn’t even said when the OnePlus 6 is going to be announced.
