Like all games, Blizzard’s Overwatch has a bit of a toxic player problem, although to Blizzard’s credit they have been working hard to try and clamp down on it. Now it looks like Blizzard has another way of dealing with toxic players where they will allow other players to avoid them as teammates.

In an announcement by Overwatch’s director Jeff Kaplan, it appears that Blizzard is testing out an “avoid as teammate” feature for Overwatch. As the name of the feature is pretty self-explanatory, basically this allows players to mark other players that they don’t want to be paired up with in matches due to whatever reason.

However as it stands, the feature is a bit limited in the sense that players only get to avoid a maximum of two players and it will only last for seven days. Presumably this is done to test out the feature before taking it up a notch as Blizzard will probably want to see how this plays out before they tweak and improve it in the future.

It is an interesting idea although it seems that this might have the potential of making matches harder and longer to find, but like we said Blizzard will probably tweak it in the future as they see how it impacts gameplay first.
