Toys R Us is a name that many of us probably associate with our childhood, where our parents would take us there to choose a new toy. However with the advent of online shopping, fast shipping, and being able to find the best deal in a matter of minutes, the need to go to Toys R Us isn’t what it used to be.

So much so that last year it was announced that the company would be filing for bankruptcy. Now according to a report from The Washington Post, it looks like Toys R Us will be shutting down all 800 of its stores in the US. This has yet to be confirmed by the company and is based on a source familiar with the matter.

The closure of the stores in the US follows Toys R Us also announcing that they would be closing all 100 of its UK stores. However this closure isn’t expected to happen immediately as closures would take place over time, and not all at once, according to their source. This is a change from the report back in 2017, where it was suggested that despite them filing for bankruptcy, operations are expected to continue.

It is unclear as to what will happen to Toys R Us in other parts of the world, like Australia and Asia where the outlets were launched through joint venture programs.
