Apple Announces That They Now Run On 100% Renewable Energy

Apple has always boasted about their green efforts and how they try to strive for making their products as green as possible, whether it be making the product packaging and and manuals from recycled paper, or ensuring that their products use renewable materials where possible, and also working to make sure that their operations are powered by renewable energy.

While we suppose it might be a while before Apple’s products are 100% made from sustainable materials, the good news is that in terms of their operations, Apple is now claiming that they are running on 100% renewable energy. This covers the company’s operations around the world, such as their retail stores, offices, and data centers.

In addition to this, Apple has also announced that they have managed to convince nine additional manufacturing partners to commit to powering Apple production with 100% clean energy. According to Apple, this brings the total number of suppliers who have committed to Apple’s green initiative to 23.

According to Apple’s CEO Tim Cook, “We’re committed to leaving the world better than we found it. After years of hard work we’re proud to have reached this significant milestone. We’re going to keep pushing the boundaries of what is possible with the materials in our products, the way we recycle them, our facilities and our work with suppliers to establish new creative and forward-looking sources of renewable energy because we know the future depends on it.”

Apple’s announcement is hot on the heels of Google’s own announcement in which a couple of days ago, they also announced that they are now running on 100% renewable energy.
