Ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s official reveal, it seems that there are quite a bit of rumors surrounding the upcoming title. One of which involves the early development of the game where according to a series of tweets by a certain Matt Harris, it was suggested that early multiplayer concepts of the game was very similar to Blizzard’s Overwatch.

However it seems that whatever Treyarch had adapted to make it play like Overwatch reportedly did not pan out too well because they decided to remove said elements. This report is backed up by an earlier report by Charlie INTEL in which they have more or less said the same thing. Apparently play testing found that the Overwatch-like features did not test too well which is why they decided to remove it.

Instead of the rumors are true, Black Ops 4 could be getting a Battle Royale mode which seems to be the rage these days, especially with the launch of mobile versions of Fortnite Battle Royale and PUBG. We suppose it makes sense that Treyarch could be focusing very heavily on the multiplayer aspects of Black Ops 4.

This is because another report claims that the game will not have a single-player campaign, which means the entire success of the game lies with its multiplayer component. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but check back with us on the 17th of May where the official reveal is expected to take place.
