After the teasing and leaks, it seems that Xiaomi-backed Black Shark has officially announced their gaming smartphone, also dubbed the Black Shark. However just like most of Xiaomi’s handsets, the Black Shark has only been announced for the Chinese market so we don’t expect to see it released in the US anytime soon.

That being said, what makes the Black Shark a gaming smartphone? For starters it will be powered by the latest hardware in mobile technology which includes the use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset clocked at 2.8GHz. There will also be RAM options offered in either 6GB or 8GB, and it also will sport a liquid cooling system that will help to combat the heat generated during gameplay.

As for the rest of the specs, it seems that it will come with a 5.99-inch display with a Full HD resolution, which is a bit disappointing when you consider the Razer Phone has a higher resolution and a faster refresh rate. There is a 4,000mAh battery which is bigger than most phones in the market today, but expected if you plan to game on it. There will also be dual cameras on the back with 12MP and 20MP, a 20MP front-facing camera, a fingerprint scanner, and a “professional microphone”.

Black Shark has also launched an optional accessory for the phone dubbed the Black Shark Gamepad which as the name suggests, is a gamepad that can be attached to the handset for physical gaming controls. As for pricing, the Black Shark will be priced around $477 for the 6GB model and $557 for the 8GB model.
