Games like Call of Duty and Battlefield usually focus on the multiplayer aspects of the game, but they often include single-player campaigns for those who are looking to get a bit more out of the game as well. Unfortunately it seems that Activision’s upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, that won’t be happening.

In a report from Polygon, they have heard from their sources that Black Ops 4 will not feature a single-player campaign. Instead it seems that it will be a pure multiplayer experience. This wasn’t exactly by design as Treyarch had originally intended to include a single-player campaign, but apparently they ran out of time and decided to drop it.

Instead the developer is rumored to be focusing on the game’s multiplayer mode, the Zombies mode, and also focusing on the cooperatives mode as a possible stand-in for the single-player mode. No word on whether single-player could be coming to the game in a future update, but that’s the situation for now.

When reached for a comment, an Activision spokesperson was quoted as saying, “We don’t comment on rumor and speculation. We look forward to revealing Black Ops 4 on May 17th.” Black Ops 4 was confirmed earlier last month with an official reveal taking place next month. It will also be the latest title in the Call of Duty series.
