SEGA has released several classic games years ago and many of them are still relatively popular and fondly remembered even today. The good news is that if you’re looking to play some of them again, you might be interested to learn that SEGA has officially announced that they will be bringing several classics onto the Nintendo Switch.

This will be part of the SEGA Ages, which for those unfamiliar are essentially compilations or re-releases of classic SEGA games. In this case, we’re looking at titles such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star, Alex Kidd In Miracle World, Gain Ground, and Thunder Force 4. Note that while the announcement was made in Japanese, it seems that these titles won’t be exclusive to the Japanese Switch eShop, but are also expected to find their way to North America and Europe this coming summer.

These games are pretty old and some of them are arcade classics, not console classics, so it will be interesting to see how they hold up on more modern day consoles like the Switch. There is also no word on pricing, but given that these are oldies we don’t expect that they will cost too much, at least not along the lines of a brand new title, so do keep an eye out for them if you’re looking to relive some of these classics.
