Last year the folks at Snapchat rolled out a controversial new design. This came on the heels of criticism that suggested that Snapchat had a confusing UI, although ironically enough the ones who ended up complaining about the new design were Snapchat’s current users. The company had previously defended the new design, but now it seems that concessions could be made.

According to a report from Recode, it appears that Snapchat could be testing out a redesign of its Stories interface. It’s not a drastic overhaul of the current design, not by any means, and according to a Snap spokesperson who confirmed the change, this is only a test which means that it may or may not become a permanent change for all users.

So what kind of changes are we talking about? From what we can tell from the redesign, it has basically listing user-created Stories to the Discover page where they will exist alongside posts from brands, celebrities, publishers, and so on. This is similar to how it used to be laid out before the controversial redesign.

Snap did not acknowledge this but in a statement simply said, “We are always listening to our community and will continue to test updates that we hope will give Snapchatters the best possible experience on our platform.”
