SEGA’s Sonic franchise features some of the most popular and recognizable characters in video game history, and while gamers these days might be more focused on current titles, it seems that gamers are proving to be a nostalgic bunch because according to SEGA, Sonic Mania has managed to sell 1 million copies to date.

For those unfamiliar, Sonic Mania is the latest installment in the Sonic franchise and was released back in 2017. Instead of going the modern route, SEGA chose to keep it as a classic where the game was designed in 2D as a side-scroller. The game was created to commemorate Sonic the Hedgehog turning 25 years old.

For the most part the game plays like how Sonic games used to play back in the day, which like we said seems to have appealed to the nostalgic side of gamers in which over 1 million copies of the game have since been sold. While SEGA did not break down the numbers, the company claims that this spans across the various platforms that the game was released on, such as PC, PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. If you have yet to check the title out and want to relive the good old gaming days, then perhaps you should take the title for a spin.
