Toy StoryDisney/Pixar’s Toy Story is probably one of the most successful animated movies of all time, and has since spawned several sequels. Unsurprisingly given how successful it has been, we doubt that they would have allowed the franchise to come to an end after Toy Story 3, which is why Toy Story 4 was announced.

The good news is that if you’ve been eagerly anticipating the fourth installment in the Toy Story movies, it has been confirmed that the movie will be released in 2019. To be more specific, the move will be out on the 21st of June, 2019. The movie was originally announced in 2014 but no release date was mentioned until now.

However its development was met with quite a few problems along the way. John Lasseter was supposed to direct the movie, but has since stepped down. Rashida Jones and Will McCormack were also supposed to write the screenplay based on an original story by Lasseter but have since left over “philosophical differences” with Pixar.

That being said, Josh Cooley has since been appointed as the movie’s new director and Stephany Folsom will be penning the new screenplay. In any case things appear to be progressing much more smoothly now, but we’ll have to wait until next year to see if Toy Story 4 will be able to continue the success of its predecessors.
