With the first Deadpool movie, it was the first superhero movie to get an R-rating, which also went on to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever. With that many are probably wondering if its successor, Deadpool 2, will be able to continue that streak, although unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be the case, although it did come very close.

In a report from Deadline, it seems that Deadpool 2 has managed to bring in $125 million over its opening weekend. Some had predicted that the movie would be able to open above $130, but it looks like it fell slightly short. It also fell behind the original Deadpool movie which earned $132.4 million domestically, so like we said, it came pretty close.

However what this means is that both Deadpool and Deadpool 2 hold the title of the highest-grossing R-rated movies ever, with Stephen King’s It remake coming in third at $123.4 million. However as Deadline points out, there was a possibility of it beating its predecessor as the first Deadpool movie had a four-day holiday which meant that they had an extra day to take advantage of.

That being said, Deadpool 2 is still a successful movie at the end of the day with mostly positive reviews. However if you’re hoping to see a third Deadpool movie, actor Ryan Reynolds has stated that he himself is unsure if there will be a third.
