Facebook To Redesign Messenger To Make It Simpler

Facebook Messenger has definitely evolved over the years since its first inception where it existed as an in-app messaging system for Facebook. The company eventually spun it out to exist on its own where they included a bunch of features to it, such as games, Stories, and even the ability for users to send money to each other.

Unsurprisingly this has led to the app being a bit bloated with a somewhat confusing UI to house all these features, which is why Facebook has announced their plans to redesign the platform to make it simpler to use again. This was revealed by Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg during the company’s F8 keynote.

He was quoted as saying, “When you’re messaging, you really want a simple and fast experience. We’re taking this moment to completely redesign Messenger to focus on these ideas.” Messenger VP David Marcus later added that the redesign would be coming soon and that this is something Facebook has been working on since the start of the year.

Some of the changes users should be able to expect is a new dark mode, a simplified bottom navigation, and overall reduced a lot of the clutter of the previous design. No specific date on when the changes will be made, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for when it does.
