For the past several years, we’ve seen Square Enix bring various versions of their Final Fantasy games onto mobile. Now a few years ago, the company announced that they would be bringing Final Fantasy XI onto mobile, and that was a few years ago when the game was originally intended for a release in 2016.

This means that it’s about a couple of years late, and for those who are worried about the fate of the game, fret not as Nexon (who is in charge of the port) has recently published several screenshots of the game, and along with a job listing seems to suggest that the game is indeed alive and well, and is only a matter of time before it is released to the public.

Unfortunately details about the game are a bit scarce at the moment which means that there is no mention of when the game will be released. However like we said it has been a couple of years since it was last seen so hopefully development is nearing the end. There is also no mention of pricing, but given Nexon’s track record for free-to-play titles with in-app purchases, there’s a chance we could be looking at something similar for Final Fantasy XI for mobile.
