Samsung Galaxy S10 Could Feature In-House In-Display Fingerprint Sensor

With more companies transitioning to full screen displays, it means that features like physical home buttons or soft keys have been removed, which in turn also means having to find a new place for security features like a fingerprint sensor. Most companies have started to replace them by putting them on the back, but an in-display sensor is a more elegant solution.

However not many companies are offering that now, save for Vivo, but there is a chance that the Samsung Galaxy S10 could be adopting the feature as well. In a report out of Korea from ChosunBiz, it seems that the rumors are saying that Samsung is developing their own in-display fingerprint sensor made by Samsung SDI that could debut in the Galaxy S10.

Previously there were rumors that Samsung was working with Synaptics to develop such a sensor for use on the Galaxy S8, but apparently “ran out of time”. Samsung also addressed the topic earlier this year at MWC 2018 where they explained that they wanted to perfect the tech first before releasing it into a commercial product.

If the rumors are to be believed, it seems that even the Galaxy Note 9 might not sport the technology which means that if you wanted an in-display fingerprint sensor, you’ll have to wait until 2019 for the Galaxy S10.
