There were indications recently that airline and event tickets will soon be available in Google Pay and the company officially confirmed during its Google Pay session at the I/O 2018 developers conference that users will soon be able to access boarding passes and event tickets inside the app. Google announced this feature in partnership with Urban Airship, the partnership will enable Google Pay users to easily access tickets for flights and events as well as boarding passes from inside the app.

It was reported not too long ago that Google has been working to add native support for transit tickets and passes to Google Pay. The reports also suggested that airline boarding passes would soon be supported in the app as well.

“Google Pay’s new support for tickets and boarding passes means customers will always have up-to-date information when they need it most – on the go,” said Urban Airship CEO Brett Caine. Urban Airship has worked with Google Pay to develop a streamlined and engaging ticketing and boarding pass experience.

The mobile wallet tickets show real-time updates such as changes to the deparature time as well as personalized one-to-one messaging with the card. Urban Airship’s service is used by airlines such as Jet Airways and Alaska Airlines while Google has also inked partnerships with Southwest and Singapore Airlines as well as Eventbrite to further enhance the experience.
