Ahead of the official Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 reveal, a photo made its way online which showed the game instead of a case for the Nintendo Switch, suggesting that Black Ops 4 could be launched on the Switch in addition to the PC, Xbox One, and PS4. This was actually not the first time we have heard such rumors so if anything, it corroborated previous claims.

Unfortunately for Switch gamers, it turns out that the rumors were simply that, rumors, and that Black Ops 4 will not be launching on the Switch. This is according to a report from Twinfinite who spoke to Yale Miller, senior producer at Treyarch, and Matt Scronce, gameplay designer at Treyarch and asked them about their plans to bring the game onto the Switch.

The answer was a swift and decisive “no”, leaving no room for speculation of any kind. It is a bit unfortunate as we’re sure that there are some Switch gamers out there who would love to see titles like Call of Duty and Battlefield launched for the console. After all there is some precedent to that as previous Call of Duty games were launched for the Wii and Wii U.

Not to mention given the Switch’s popularity, it makes sense that Treyarch and Activision would want to capitalize on that, right? Either way it seems that Switch gamers who want to play Black Ops 4 will need to play it on the PC or a different console for now.
