Qualcomm had confirmed earlier this year that it was developing a new 700 series of SoCs in order to bring features usually found on premium devices to the affordable segment of the market. The company has now unveiled its Snapdragon 710 mobile platform which has been designed to bring premium features to a broader audience. The Snapdragon 710 is built on 10nm process technology with efficient cores for artificial intelligence. It also features a multi-core AI Engine and neural network processing capabilities. Qualcomm says that the Snapdragon 710 mobile platform devices significant performance improvements compared to its 600 series of SoCs.

It has custom Kryo 360 CPU cores in a 2+6 configuration with two high performance 2.2GHz CPUs and six smaller 1.7GHz cores focused on energy efficiency. It’s coupled with Adreno 616 graphics, Hexagon 685 DSP, Spectra 250 dual ISP, and Aqstic Audio. Qualcomm’s X15 LTE modem is onboard as well.

Qualcomm says that the Snapdragon 710 delivers up to 2X the performance improvement in artificial intelligence applications compared to the Snapdragon 660. It also has support for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Neural Processing SDK. It’s even capable of supporting 4K HDR playback for viewing HDR videos and apps which the company points out is a first outside its premium 800 series of SOcs.

Qualcomm has said that the Snapdragon 710 mobile platform is available to its customers starting today and that the public and expect to see the platform in consumer devices by the second quarter of this year.
