Online services these days are starting to integrate more with Facebook and Google, where instead of users having to create accounts from scratch, they can choose to sign into a service using their Facebook or Google credentials, making it a lot faster and easier for users to start using a service/website.

However in the future it is possible that Facebook and Google could get a competitor in the form of Snapchat. According to a report from TechCrunch, it seems that Snap is planning on launching its own developer platform called Snapkit, and one of the features of the SDK is that it could create a “login with Snapchat” option in the future.

This means that in addition to Facebook, Google, or choosing to sign up from scratch, users could choose to login using their Snapchat credentials as well. As TechCrunch points out, Snapchat does appeal to a younger audience and given the fallout that Facebook faced with its data privacy scandal, it is possible that users might prefer to go with Snapchat instead.

Snap has yet to officially announce or confirm anything and declined to comment on the report, so take it with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully we’ll have more official details soon.
