Last month the folks at SNK teased that they were preparing the launch of a new mini console based on the Neo Geo. Shortly after alleged leaked images made their way online and for those wondering about it, wonder no more because SNK has officially taken the wraps off what they are calling the Neo Geo Mini.

Like we said, the Neo Geo Mini is based on the Neo Geo MVS arcade machine which you can see in the image above. It has been shrunken down, obviously, and it is expected that there will be two versions: a Japanese version and one for international markets. This is similar to what Nintendo has done for its NES and SNES Classic consoles.

In terms of games, it seems that the rumors were right and that the console would come preloaded with 40 games, but exactly what titles are available is unclear, but the images do show off games such as King of Fighters and Metal Slug. There is a HDMI port for those who wish to connect it to a larger display, a headphone jack, and ports for two external controllers. It will also sport a 3.5-inch LCD which means that it should be small enough for you to take it on the go.

There is no mention of pricing or availability, so it looks like we’ll just have to wait and see.
