Some of you might recall that several years ago, Sony launched the Digital Paper tablet which is basically a tablet that uses an e-ink touchscreen display that can be interacted with using a stylus, essentially providing users with never-ending pieces of paper that they can write and draw to their heart’s content.
Unfortunately it did not come cheap with a price tag of $1,100. The good news is that Sony is trying their hand at it again, and this time they have come up with the DPT-CP1, which is the same Digital Paper tablet except that this model is not only smaller, but it is also almost half the price of the original at $600.
The CP1 will feature a 10.3-inch display and will utilize the same display technology and there will also be a stylus that is meant to help mimic the experience when it comes to writing on actual paper. The new model will also include the ability for users to fill out PDF forms, and there will also be an accompanying iOS and Android app that lets users port existing documents over onto the device. The tablet is also boasting a very impressive 3 week battery life.
That being said, it is clear that the CP1 is aimed at a very specific set of users who might appreciate such features. After all there are plenty of other tablets out there, such as the iPad Pro and Microsoft Surface that can do the same thing and more, but hey if this sounds like your jam, head on over to Sony’s website to get your hands on it.
