With how well-received Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has been, it’s not surprising there a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming has been confirmed. However given Holland’s appearances in other Marvel movies, such as Captain America: Civil War and more recently Avengers: Infinity War, not much is known about Homecoming 2.

However according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, it seems that some details are starting to leak, namely who might be the movie’s villain. According to the report, it seems that the movie’s next villain could be Mysterio and the character will be played by none other than actor Jake Gyllenhaal.

What’s interesting is that the Homecoming movies appear to featuring villains from the Sinister Six, a group of villains who largely exist within the Spider-Man series. The first movie featured the Vulture and now it looks like the sequel will feature Mysterio. We suppose if you want to count the previous Spider-Man movies which starred Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, Sandman, Doctor Octopus, and Eletro have all made their appearances.

This means that the only member of the Sinister Six that has yet to appear in the movies is Kraven the Hunter. That being said, Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 is still quite a fair bit away from being released as it is targeted for 2019, so we guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
