Sony’s PS Vita handheld console is a pretty old piece of hardware, but we imagine that there are probably still a ton of gamers out there who are happily playing with it even after all these years. The good news is that while developers might not be rushing out to create new PS Vita titles these days, the folks at Chucklefish and ConcernedApe have not forgotten about it.

For those unfamiliar, ConcernedApe is the developer behind popular indie farming sim Stardew Valley, and the recent announcement has confirmed that the game will be launching on the console on the 22nd of May. Now Stardew Valley had been previously announced for the PS Vita early last year, and now it looks like we finally have a date to look forward to.

Being able to take the game on the go should no doubt increase its appeal, the same way that it did when the game was announced for the Nintendo Switch. What’s even better news is that if you’ve purchased Stardew Valley on your PS4, you won’t have to purchase the game again as it will be cross-buy.

It is an interesting choice to support the PS Vita because several years ago, Sony stated that there might not necessarily be any plans for a PS Vita successor. However with the success of the Nintendo Switch, perhaps Sony might revisit their PS Vita plans again.
