Vevo Shuts Down Its App On All Platforms Except For YouTube

When it comes to watching music videos online, Vevo probably comes to mind. The company’s service is available across multiple platforms, such as YouTube, mobile, smart TVs, and so on. However in an announcement by the company, it seems that they will be shutting down across all platforms except for YouTube.

According to the company, “To be most effective in achieving those goals, we will phase out elements of our owned and operated platforms. Going forward, Vevo will remain focused on engaging the biggest audiences and pursuing growth opportunities.  Our catalog of premium music videos and original content will continue to reach a growing audience on YouTube and we are exploring ways to work with additional platforms to further expand access to Vevo’s content.”

So what does this mean? Basically if you access Vevo on iOS devices, or on tvOS, Android, or webOS, Vevo will be removing their app from those platforms. Instead the company is encouraging its users to check out their content on its YouTube channel, which we suppose is sort of the company going back to its roots.

However Vevo does not mention when the apps will be removed so for now you will be able to continue accessing them, but maybe it’s a good idea to start getting used to accessing it via YouTube from here on out.
