Vivo has been quick in bringing new technologies to market that other OEMs have been experimenting with. For years, we have heard that Samsung is experimenting with an in-display fingerprint sensor but Vivo already has a device out on the market with such a sensor. The company showed off its Apex concept smartphone earlier this year. It’s an all-screen device with a pop-up camera and Vivo has now confirmed that it will officially launch this smartphone on June 12th.

The term all-screen means that almost the entire front of the device is covered by the display. There’s no notch so it put the camera inside a pop-up mechanism that rises up from the frame. The device also has an in-display fingerprint sensor that makes the lower half of the display function as the sensor.

Vivo is going to unveil the device at an event in Shanghai on June 12th and it remains to be seen how much of the technology that it showcased with the concept will make it to the production device.

The event invite calls the device “Apex FullView Concept Smartphone,” and the company has also released an ad which gives us a glimpse of what the production version might offer. Both the notch-less display and pop-up camera can be seen in this ad. More information will be available come June 12th when Vivo officially launches this smartphone.
