Google Photos Will Group Similar Photos Taken Around The Same Time

Sorting photos back in the day used to be quite a chore as you’d have to go through photos manually and group them by yourself. If you don’t keep up with it, chances are you might end up with hundreds, if not thousands of photos to go through which could take forever. These days technology has made it a lot easier.

In fact according to the folks at Android Police, they have noticed that Google has started to roll out a new feature for some Google Photos users where photos are grouped together based on timing and similarity. For example if you were at a birthday party and take a bunch of photos of the birthday person cutting a cake, Google Photos will group those photos together and will also suggest which of the photos might be the best.

Of course “best” is subjective, but as we have seen in the past, Google has been using machine learning to help computers figure out what we as humans consider to be good photos. Obviously you don’t have to take Google’s suggestions if you don’t want to, but for those who are lazy to sort or not too fussed, then this could be a quick and easy solution. It is unclear how widespread the rollout of this feature is, but do keep an eye out for it if it sounds like something you think could be useful.
