HBO Orders Pilot Episode Of Game Of Throne Prequel

We know that many fans of HBO’s Game of Thrones will be sad that come 2019, it will effectively mark the end of the series. However according to George R.R. Martin, the author behind the series, he has enough material that could create a prequel series. The good news is that there is a chance that the prequel could happen.

This is because HBO has ordered the pilot episode for one of the potential prequels. For those who haven’t been keeping track of Game of Thrones, when we say “one of the potential prequels”, it is because back in 2017 Martin confirmed that there were at least five potential prequels that were in development.

Of course not all will make the cut, obviously, but the latest report has suggested that at least one is a step closer to being launched. This particular prequel is being developed by Jane Goldman who also co-wrote the story with Martin. She will also serve as the showrunner, and together with Martin serve as executive producers alongside the current Game of Thrones executive producers Vince Gerardis and Daniel Zelman.

According to the prequel’s logline, “Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”

That being said, there is no guarantee that this will make the cut either so we guess we’ll have to wait and see how well the pilot does.
