iOS 12 Could Have Potentially Revealed 2018’s iPhone X’s Display Size

According to the rumors, Apple is said to be launching a 6.5-inch iPhone later this year. Earlier reports have also suggested that the iPhone in question could feature a higher resolution than other iPhones. Now according to a report from BGR, it seems that a possibly display size/resolution could have been revealed.

The publication claims that they have received visitors to its website that are running on devices that have iOS 12 installed. Now this was before WWDC which means that these devices were most likely owned by Apple who could be testing out the software. However what caught their attention was an unknown device that had a resolution of 414×896.

Checking against Apple’s developer documentation, it is clear that the measurements used was not in pixels, but in points, resulting in a device that was not part of Apple’s devices. Assuming Apple is adopting the same display aspect ratio of the iPhone X, this means that whatever device that was visiting BGR’s website has a resolution of 1242 x 2688, making it higher than any iPhone available right now, and also tying in with the earlier rumors.

While the display size itself was not mentioned, it is possible that Apple could be using this resolution inside of a 6.5-inch display which would allow Apple to continue marketing it as a Super Retina display. In any case this is all speculation at this point in time, but it does seem pretty compelling, but what do you guys think?
