The Nintendo Labo kits were officially unveiled earlier this year and it seemed a bit like a niche product. However if you were thinking whether or not the Labo will be worth your investment, you might be interested to learn that Nintendo has recently updated Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to make it compatible with the Labo.

What does this mean? In the video above, basically you will be able to create accessories that you can use to enhance your Mario Kart experience. In the demonstration Nintendo created a steering wheel in which gamers can use to control their karts in the game. It is actually a rather clever setup and it does look like it would make the game more immersive.

That being said, this is actually not the first time we’ve seen the Labo used as a steering wheel. A couple of months ago an inventor created a steering wheel with the Labo and the Switch console that allowed a person in an electric wheelchair to control it. We’re not sure if there are plans to bring Labo support to more games in the future, but like we said the integration with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a clever one.

We wouldn’t be surprised if like the Amiibo, we will start seeing more games supported in the future so perhaps the Labo kits could be worth looking into.
