Just last week it was confirmed that there would be a brand new core Pokemon RPG that would be coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2019. However details about the game were scarce, but during a recent interview with Famitsu magazine, The Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara spoke more about what’s to come.

While Ishihara does not mention anything too specific, he claims that this is a game that he’s hoping that when fans do play it, they’ll say that this is something that they’ve been waiting for. “We want to make Pokémon fans say ‘this is what I’ve been waiting for’ by delivering a brand-new product packed with gameplay elements and plenty of new Pokémon to encounter.”

He also adds that the game will be completely different from Pokemon Let’s Go (which for those unfamiliar are a series of Pokemon games that will be launched on the Switch later this year) and that it will not be an entry game. Ishihara also adds, “The game will give a good understanding of what an evolved Pokémon game looks like after it has continued to succeed the traditions of Game Freak.”

In any case there is no doubt that many are looking forward to seeing what the Pokemon RPG will be like, but it seems that we still have a bit of waiting to do, but hopefully we’ll have more details leading up to the official reveal.
