Snap, the company behind Snapchat, today announced the launch of its Snap Kit. It’s a developer kit which will enable app developers to bring features from Snapchat into their own apps. The features that will soon be available in other apps include Snapchat’s camera and Bitmoji. Developers will have four different ways of integrating Snapchat features into their apps.

They can use the Creative Kit to integrate their custom filters, stickers, and links into Snapchat Camera. The Bitmoji Kit will bring users’ personalized Snapchat avatars to other apps. Tinder is actually one of the first apps to use this feature, enabling users to send Bitmoji in messages with their prospects.

They will also be able to use Story Kit to enable their apps to search and embed stories submitted to the public Our Story feed. Last but not the least, developers can also allow their users to log in with their Snapchat credentials. If they integrate this option, they will only get the user’s display name and optionally their Bitmoji avatar as well. Snap will not share any personally identifiable information with the developers such as location, gender, and age.

The company has built-in an additional protection for users. If they connect to an app but don’t use it for 90 days, Snap Kit will automatically disconnect from that app. Developers will only be approved for Snap Kit after an application process and human review. Only major brands have been allowed initially, they include Pandora, Poshmark, Eventbrite, and others.
