Fortnite is undoubtedly one of the most popular games this year that’s available on a variety of platforms including the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. While Fortnite cross-play is possible between the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, Sony doesn’t allow it on the PlayStation 4. Fans have obviously not been happy about this and after its initial response to criticism failed to assuage concerns, Sony is addressing the matter once again.

Fortnite players can’t use an account that has been used on the PlayStation 4 with the Nintendo Switch or the Xbox One for that matter. This means that they essentially have to start from scratch on the other consoles if they started playing the game on PS4 first.

Sony has been listening to the feedback from fans. Sony Interactive Entertainment America CEO Shawn Layden tells Eurogamer that the company is listening to the concerns and that it’s looking at a lot of the possibilities.

“You can imagine that the circumstances around that affect a lot more than just one game. I’m confident we’ll get to a solution which will be understood and accepted by our gaming community, while at the same time supporting our business,” he added.

It’s unclear when Sony will elaborate more on the possibilities that it’s considering. It may allow progression and sync but may not allow cross-play which will prevent Fortnite players on PS4 from playing with their friends on an Xbox One or Nintendo Switch. At least it will save players the trouble of having to start from scratch on another platform.
