Huawei’s next flagship smartphone of the year could have a dual-edge curved OLED display if reports are believed. The company launched the Huawei Mate 10 last year with an LCD screen and only the Mate 10 Pro got the OLED display. That may also be the case this year as well with the Mate 20 Pro expected to feature a dual-edge curved OLED display.

Huawei is reportedly going to source some of the panels for this handset from China-based BOE. However, there are concerns that it may not be able to meet the volumes that Huawei would require. In that case, the company may have to turn to established OLED suppliers such as Samsung Display and LG Display.

It hasn’t been revealed at this point in time if the remaining OLED orders would be picked up by LG Display or Samsung Display for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. It would be a big step forward for BOE nonetheless as it entered the OLED market a bit late compared to its rivals. The deal with Huawei would signal that the quality of its OLED panels is comparable to those from the established suppliers.

There hasn’t been any confirmation of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro from the company. It is expected to launch this flagship handset in the coming months.
