However that could change in the future, according to a report out of Korea (via GSMArena) in which it was suggested that Samsung could merge their Galaxy S lineup with the Note lineup. Apparently this is due to customers who are finding it harder to switch to a Note series when they can instead just get a Galaxy S handset, plus there is also pretty fierce competition from Chinese OEMs who are making phones that are considerably cheaper.
Assuming this is true, this means that in the future we might only see one flagship launch from Samsung. As GSMArena points out, this seems to lineup with some of the rumors we have been hearing, such as how the Galaxy S10 is rumored to feature three variants. This means that we could see the handset being offered in three different screen sizes, one of which could be of the Note series’ size. We could also potentially see S Pen functionality being brought to the Galaxy S lineup.
Ultimately this move could end up helping Samsung reduce their costs when developing their phones, but whether or not this is true remains to be seen, so take it with a grain of salt for now.
