HTC confirmed in May this year that it was developing a blockchain smartphone. The company has now revealed some more information about the device. HTC says that its blockchain smartphone is called Exodus and that it’s going to be released in the third quarter of this year. It has put up a website where those who are interested can sign up to receive more information as and when it becomes available. HTC is billing the Exodus as the “first cold wallet phone with key recovery.”

The company hasn’t revealed a lot of technical specifications of the handset so far, though. Since it’s a blockchain smartphone, it will focus on the decentralized internet with apps being able to hold data on the device itself instead of the cloud.

HTC has also revealed that it’s teaming up with CryptoKitties which is best described as the “world’s biggest game to be built on blockchain technology.” The title will be available on select HTC devices including the U12+. “The partnership with Cryptokitties is the beginning of a non fungible, collectible marketplace and crypto gaming app store,” HTC added.

The company says that it will provide more information about its blockchain smartphone in the coming months. It’s unclear as of now how much it might cost.
