With all the success surrounding Pokemon GO, we’re sure that along the way some might have forgotten that before Niantic was working on Pokemon GO, they were actually working on a game called Ingress in which some of Pokemon GO’s concepts and features are based on. For those who do remember Ingress, you’ll soon be able to relive the game in a slightly different way.

Speaking to Variety, Niantic’s John Hanke confirmed that Ingress: The Animation will soon be making its way to Netflix. As you can see in the image above, this will basically be an animation based on the game. According to Hanke, “The anime peers into the ‘Ingress’ universe and allows viewers to see a part of that universe that is uniquely expressed.”

The series will be created by animation studio Crafter under the direction of computer-graphics artist Yuhei Sakuragi. It will also feature character design by “Neon Genesis Evangelion’s” art director Takeshi Honda, and there are plans to distribute the anime worldwide thanks to Fuji TV working together with Netflix.

The show will also feature brand new material, but it is also expected to overlap with the current story from the original Ingress, and will also introduce viewers to Ingress Prime, a new version of the game that Niantic is developing and planning for a release later this year.
