For the most part a lot of our smartphones these days almost never last past 2 days. Granted battery life has improved since smartphones were first introduced, but if you wanted a phone that you would only need to charge once or twice a week, good luck finding that! However this is where battery optimizations come in handy.

For OnePlus 5 and 5T owners, you might be interested in checking out the latest update that OnePlus has issued for both devices. One of the new features that OnePlus will be adding in the update comes in the form of Sleep Standby Optimization. This is supposed to help with battery conservation which should help the phone last longer.

According to OnePlus, “When this setting is turned on, the system intelligently identifies your sleep pattern based on the phone’s usage. The phone will then turn off the network during specific periods of inactivity, which effectively reduces standby power consumption. The phone will automatically cancel any network restrictions and get the phone out of Sleep Standby just before you wake up so that you won’t miss any notifications such as news updates, emails etc.”

The update is already live but as OnePlus notes, this is coming in the form of a staged rollout where it will be released to a limited number of users at first before it eventually finds its way to more users over the coming days.
