Samsung Gear S4 Could Be Launched As The ‘Galaxy Watch’

The last time we saw Samsung launch a Gear S smartwatch was back in 2016. The company has since followed up with other wearables like the Gear Sport and Gear Fit2 Pro. However we have been hearing that the company could be launching a successor to the Gear S3 this year in the form of the Gear S4.

However according to a report from Ice Universe, it seems that Samsung could be thinking of rebranding the wearable where it could be launched as the Galaxy Watch. Also what’s interesting is that the tweet claims that the device could be running on Wear OS (which for those unfamiliar is Google’s rebranding of Android Wear).

Samsung for a while now has been largely using its own Tizen-based OS for its smartwatches, so this could be an interesting change and might also be a positive change for those who might prefer Wear OS over Tizen. In addition to using Wear OS, the report claims that the Galaxy Watch could pack a 470mAh battery, a PLP package, a new UX interaction, and also the ability to measure blood pressure.

Take it with a grain of salt for now, but last we heard the device could be launched this September alongside a new Galaxy Tab S4 tablet.
