Samsung is expected to enter the smart speaker race as well with its very own product which will be powered by Bixby, its virtual assistant. A new report out of China claims that Samsung’s smart speaker will ship with Bixby 2.0. The next iteration of its assistant is said to feature significant improvements that address many of the pain points that Bixby users have had since its launch last year.

Samsung’s Bixby assistant was launched with the Galaxy S8 last year. It has developed a bit of a bad reputation for itself even though it offers deep integration with many features of the compatible devices.

Bixby 2.0 was announced at the Samsung Developer Conference late last year. The company has focused on transforming it into an intelligence tool which will be able to accomplish more complex tasks. The speaker won’t be the first device with Bixby 2.0, though. Samsung has previously confirmed that the Galaxy Note 9 will be the first to ship with the next iteration of Bixby.

We’ll get a better idea of what it’s capable of once the Galaxy Note 9 is in our hands. Samsung is expected to release its new smartphone on August 24th. It’s unclear as yet when the company is planning to release its smart speaker, some are still holding out on hope that the company will do that before the end of this year.
