Even though Android Oreo will no longer be the most recent stable iteration of Google’s mobile platform in a couple of months, many compatible devices have yet to be upgraded to Android 8.0. Oreo has gradually been making its way to more devices over the past couple of months and now the T-Mobile LG G6 Oreo update has finally been released.

Even though the LG G6 has received Oreo quite late on T-Mobile, it hasn’t been upgraded to Android 8.1. The firmware build H87220a bumps up the device to Android 8.0. The latest security patch for June 2018 isn’t included as well. The update brings the May security patch.

It brings all of the features that users look forward to in the Oreo update. Features such as autofill apps, picture-in-picture support, notification improvements, and user interface tweaks are also present onboard.

T-Mobile is now rolling out the LG G6 Oreo update in phases so it may take a couple of days for the update to go live for all users across the United States. Those who receive it will soon see an over-the-air update notification on their handsets. It’s also possible to get the update early by trying your luck with the manual check for updates option in the settings menu.
