Last year Disney announced that they would be ending their streaming deal with Netflix in favor of their own platform. It was also later reported that future Marvel shows could be exclusive to Disney, and now that much has been confirmed in a report from the New York Times where they reveal that Ant-Man and the Wasp will be the last Marvel movie to be released on Netflix.

For those unfamiliar, Ant-Man and the Wasp is the latest Marvel movie that has been released in cinemas recently. It is the sequel to Ant-Man starring Paul Rudd that was released in 2015. Moving forwards, future Marvel movies starting with Captain Marvel (which is set for a release in 2019) will be exclusive to Disney’s own streaming service.

However the good news is that if you’ve enjoyed Netflix’s Marvel TV series such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fish, and the Punisher, those shows will continue to remain on Netflix, as confirmed by a Disney spokeswoman. That being said, Disney’s decision to pull future Marvel movies from Netflix isn’t surprising since making it exclusive to their own platform makes it more enticing.

Disney’s streaming service is expected to be launched in 2019. The company is also in the process of acquiring Fox which if successful, could see additional content being brought onto its platform.
