According to the rumors, Apple is expected to launch an updated MacBook Air later this year. Given how long it has been since Apple refreshed its MacBook Air, we suppose this makes sense. Now in a report from DigiTimes (via Cult of Mac), it seems that those rumors are slowly coming true.

The report claims that one of Apple’s suppliers, Quanta, is expecting a significant boost in orders later this year. The report talks about the competition between Quanta and Compal, where according to DigiTimes’ sources, Quanta is expected to see a boost in shipments in Q4 2018 apparently due to orders from Apple for their “inexpensive notebooks”.

Apple’s MacBook Pros are the company’s most expensive laptops and have also been criticized a bit for its pricing. The MacBook Airs are expected to be priced more affordably and while not necessarily considered to be cheap, they are more affordable for users who want macOS but don’t want to shell out too much money for it.

No word on when the new laptops will be announced, but it is largely expected that after the iPhones are announced in September, Apple will be hosting another event in which they will unveil the new iPads and MacBook Air refreshes, but take it with a grain of salt for now until we can get official confirmation.
