With Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, the publish together with Treyarch have decided to make a leap of faith by doing away with the single-player campaign completely, and instead focusing purely on multiplayer. Is this a good or bad thing? Admittedly Call of Duty games have largely been about multiplayer, but now the option of single-player is completely gone.

However it seems that despite that somewhat risky move, Activision is now reporting that Call of Duty pre-orders are going strong. The company did not provide any specific figures, but according to their financial results, “[Call of Duty: Black Ops 3] [Monthly Active Users] grew quarter-to-quarter and, in June, reached the highest level for this year as over 15 million players geared up for the October 12th release of Black Ops 4.”

This would seem to hint that pre-orders of Black Ops 4 are going strong, but we’ll probably have to wait until the game’s release or Activision’s next financials to find out more. That being said we wouldn’t be surprised if the game’s pre-orders are strong. For the most part Call of Duty games tend to sell well, plus there will also be a Battle Royale mode included in the game which cashes in on the popularity of the genre, which we’re sure plenty of gamers are excited about.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be available on the 12th of October where it is expected to be released on the PS4, Xbox One, and the PC.
