To say that Samsung’s smartphone designs are “boring” would be wrong because they’re actually pretty good. However Samsung hasn’t really introduced anything major in terms of design, instead opting to make slight improvements here and there and further refining the design process.

This is a good thing but at the same time we’re sure many are hoping to see something new. The good news is that it looks like Samsung is more than happy to oblige because in the company’s recent financial results, they have promised that come 2019, we can expect to look forward to new form factors.

The press release reads (in part), “Looking to the future, the Company will continue to reinforce product competitiveness based on hardware leadership, by adopting cutting-edge technology and new form factors and gaining leadership in 5G.” Of course Samsung does make more than just phones, so their new form factors could be for just about anything, such as fridges, TVs, speakers, and more, so try to take this piece of news with tempered expectations.

However Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S10 next year and given that this is the tenth phone in the Galaxy lineup, we’re sure that Samsung has something special planned, but we’ll just have to wait and see what it is.
