Google recently released Android 9 Pie to the public. You could count the number of devices that this update is currently available for on your fingers. It’s going to be a while before the company’s OEM partners start rolling out this update for their devices. It has now been confirmed that the Sony Android 9 Pie update is going to start rolling out for six devices from next month.

OEMs are gradually revealing their roadmap for the Android 9 Pie update. HTC recently listed all of the devices that will receive the latest iteration of Google’s mobile platform.

Sony has confirmed that it will release this update for six of its devices which include the Xperia XZ2, Xperia XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ2 Premium, Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact, and the Xperia XZ Premium. It will start rolling out the firmware update for these handsets from September 2018.

The process will certainly take time and the roll out will continue through to November 2018 before all six of these handsets get the latest version of Android. It remains to be seen, though, when other major manufacturers will announce their roadmap for the Android 9 Pie update. If they don’t hurry up with it, it will likely result in complaints from their users when they see other OEMs beating them to the punch.
