Many companies are expected to launch 5G smartphones in 2019. We’ve heard reports that Samsung, Huawei, and OnePlus all have plans to launch such devices. Now it seems that HTC could also be looking to launch a 5G smartphone, but unfortunately we might not be able to expect it anytime soon.

This is according to a report from DigiTimes who claims that HTC’s 5G smartphone might only arrive in the second half of the year. According to the publication’s sources, the reason for launching the 5G smartphone in the second half of the year is apparently due to the fact that the 5G market has yet to mature.

In that sense it is true as 5G has yet to be fully rolled out, which means that even if you own a 5G smartphone right now, there’s no telling when 5G will be rolled out to your area which means that you won’t be able to take advantage of it. Plus there are some lingering questions as to how much 5G phones will cost due to it being new technology, and also what kind of drain it might have on the battery as we have seen in the past when LTE handsets were first launched.

Take it with a grain of salt for now, but if a 5G smartphone from HTC is something you’re after, you’ll have to wait until the later part of the year before you can get it.
