According to a report from Korean publication The Investor, it seems that Samsung brought their foldable smartphone to CES 2019 where it was shown off to select partners behind closed doors. We’ll never know if that is true, but the report does claim to have obtained some interesting tidbits about the device.

One of the interesting things that was highlighted in the report was the breakability of the phone. We’re sure many are wondering how many times the phone can be folded before the display breaks, but Samsung has yet to address that. However apparently it seems that due to the design, the phone cannot be folded completely/entirely without it breaking.

One of the publication’s sources told them, “However, completely folding the device will lead to breakage. For this reason, Samsung is testing the device so that the sides remain slightly lifted when folded. The prototype seen today leaves a crease mark when being folded, but this issue will be fixed in the finalized version.”

Apart from showing off the foldable phone at SDC last year, Samsung has remained mum on the details and what we can expect. The report goes on to claim that the phone could be launched in the next few months, but it seems that in the meantime, others such as Royole might have already beaten them to the punch.
