Display technology has come a long way from back in the day where we had CRT televisions and monitors. These days displays are not only offering up higher resolutions than before, but they also offer better color reproduction. To show off its technology, LG has teamed up with Harrods where for the next few weeks, LG will be replacing the windows at Harrods’ Hans Crescent location with its transparent OLEDs.

As you can see in the photo above, at a glance you might assume that it is a piece of glass, but presumably that was the intention. By using a transparent OLED, it allows companies, such as Harrods, to display more information about products that they are selling, ongoing promotions, news and updates, and more.

All of this can also be done without having to put up signs or change the decoration as using a display allows it to be more dynamic. According to KJ Kim, Vice President and Head of Global OLED Promotion at LG Display, “LG Display will provide more chances for the public to experience the innovation of OLED by collaborating once again with world-renowned department store Harrods which showed its willingness to embrace OLED as an unmatched next-generation technology. As the pioneer of OLED displays, LG Display is committed to leading the future of OLED, thereby enhancing people’s lives with this cutting-edge technology.”

If you happen to be in the area, you can check out the installation which is expected to run from the 7th of October to the 28th of October as part of Harrods’ Tech Month.
